General Notes: Emigrated with parents to Nova Scotia in 1760. Shippy and Altje lived in Clements Township from the time they were married until at least 1820. At Waldeck in Clements Township all their children were born.

Shippy married Altje van Voorhies, daughter of Cornelis Cornelisen van Voorhies and Marretje Ditmars, on Nov 14, 1786 in Clements (now Nictaux South), NS, at the home of Capt. Ditmars by Rev. Jacob Bailey. Altje was born on Dec 13, 1770 in Long Island, NY and died on Apr 20, 1855 in Clements (now Nictaux South), NS at age 84.

General Notes: Rev. Bailey, who married Shippy and Altje, recorded their names as "sheepy" and "Alicia." During her lifetime, Altje signed legal documents as "Lettey," was called "Leticia," her obituary was for "Letitia," and her grandfather, Dowe Ditmars, called her Letty.
