  General Notes:

This picture was acquired from the estate papers of my grandfather, AJ Lank. I believe it was a daguerrotype -- picture materials sandwiched between two plates of glass. In my attempt to clean the dark spots, I removed the top glass and unexpectedly removed more picture materials. The wife is probably Ann. [HLP]

8 June 1860 Census for Broad Creek Hd., Sussex Cnty, DE (Laurel P.O.): Household included Philip Graham, 67, farmer, b. MD; Annie, 50, b. DE as are all children; Catharine, 7; Solomon T. S., 7; Urias L., 25, farmer; John S., 23, daguerreotypist; Benjamin, 21, farm laborer; William W. Graham, 19; Peter R., 15; Levin H., 10.
19 July 1870 Census for Broad Creek Hd., Sussex Cnty, DE (Laurel P.O.): Phillip Graham, 77, farmer, b. MD; Ann, 59, b. DE; Levenia [sic], 22, male; Solomon, 18. Also in household are James Henry, 12, white, b. DE, cannot read or write; Sarah Cook, 21, white, b. DE, cannot read or write. This census appeared on same page as William and Sally Graham, 4 visits prior.
Age 79-7-8 (Hudson & Tatnall).

Phillip married Elizabeth Betsie Knowles, daughter of William Lewis Knowles and Nancy, before 1819. (Elizabeth Betsie Knowles was born in 1794, died on Feb 4, 1825 and was buried in Graham family cemetery, 3 mi SE of Blades, Sussex, DE.)

Phillip next married Ann Short, daughter of Uriah Short and Sarah, on Apr 26, 1830 in Sussex Co, DE. (Ann Short was born on Apr 3, 1810, died on Nov 2, 1874 and was buried in Graham family cemetery, 3 mi SE of Blades, Sussex, DE.)
