General Notes:
"Alfred lived at Aylesford and about 1908 relocated to Round Hill, Annapolis County. During his early life her served 10 years in the 68th Bn, Kings County Regt., and on 14 March 1916 enlisted in the 219th Bn, Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force. He accompanied the unit to France, leaving Halifax on the S. S. Olympic 18 October 1916. In England he transferred to the 3rd Lab. Bn., and proceeded to France 9 Feb. 1917. His records show him wounded and shell shocked and returned to Canada via England and discharged at Halifax 14 Jan. 1918. being no longer fit for war service. Following his second marriage in 1927, he lived at Paradise, where he died suddenly while visiting a neighbor. Following his war service Alfred was self-employed drilling wells throughout the Annapolis Valley" (Vernon M. Spurr, 1989).
Alfred married Luella Morse, daughter of Guilford Morse and Ann Marie Fitzrandolph, on Jan 2, 1895 in Nictaux, NS by Rev. C. E. Pineo, Baptist. (Luella Morse was born on Jul 2, 1872 in Nictaux, NS and died on Jun 24, 1920 in Round Hill, NS.)
Alfred next married Elsie May Whynot, daughter of William Whynot and Bessie Acker, on Apr 6, 1927 in Paradise, NS. (Elsie May Whynot was born on May 14, 1895 in New Albany, NS and died on Jan 21, 1962 in Round Hill, NS.)
