Richard W Mosley: R. W. Mosley, of the firm of Mosley & Ballard, contractors and millwrights, of Black Hawk, was born in Philadephia, Penn., Feb 22, 1834. His early life was spent in attending the public schools of that city. In his sixteenth year, he served an apprenticeship at the carpenter's trade. In 1852, he removed with his parents to Gentry Co., MO. where he followed his trade three years. He was married, Sept 28 1854, to Miss Barbara Ann Hardin. In 1855, he removed to Weston, same State, and subsequently, in 1859 to Atchison Kan, continuing to work at his trade. In 1863 he came to Colorado arriving in Denver in the later part of September where he followed his trade until the Cherry Creek flood, in May 1864, swept away all his accumulations. The following July, he removed to Black Hawk, Gilpin Co., where he has since resided. After his arrival in Black Hawk, he worked at his trade until 1868 when he formed a partnership with J. B. Ballard, and has since been engaged in contracting and millwrighting. Mr. Mosley is one of the owners of the Gunnell mine, near Central City and is also interested in the Centennial mine in Chase Gulch and the Bugher mine in Central City.
